Description
WWI Prussian Guard Model 1895 Pickelhaube Front Plate (Wappen). An authentic Imperial German Prussian Guard front plate (Wappen), Model 1895, intended for the Pickelhaube helmet of the elite Guard regiments. The design features the Prussian crowned eagle with outstretched wings, holding sword and scepter, and bearing the traditional motto “Mit Gott für König und Vaterland” (“With God for King and Fatherland”) across its wings. At the center was originally affixed the silvered Guard Star of the Order of the Black Eagle, with the motto “Suum Cuique” (“To Each His Own”), now the star is lost. This example, made of stamped steel, shows characteristic oxidation and surface. During World War I, the brass fittings of Pickelhauben were replaced by steel due to material shortages. Dimensions: approx. 18 cm wide x 12 cm high. Condition: Good condition with traces of rust.
