Description
Magnificent French Presentation Sabre, 19th Century. A superbly crafted French cavalry presentation sabre dating to the 19th century, distinguished by its luxurious detailing and commemorative inscription. The steel blade features fine gilded etching with intricate martial and floral motifs, and retains much of its original fire-gilding. The hilt is enclosed in an elegant basket guard with leaf-engraved branches and fine shagreen grip bound with twisted silver wire. The pommel is decorated with ornate gilded floral ornamentation. On the hilt there is the monogram AN under the crown. The steel scabbard is richly engraved and bears a dedication in French: "The City of Ambert, in gratitude to the cavalry squadron commander A. Numed". The throat is marked "Pirmet a Paris". This saber is not only a weapon but also a ceremonial artifact, embodying the high honor and respect bestowed upon its recipient. A rare and elegant example of a personalized officer’s sabre, ideal for advanced collectors of French military antiques. Excellent condition. Length cm.
