Description
WWI, Imperial German Model 1915 Guard Pickelhaube (Spiked Helmet). An authentic Model 1915 Garde enlisted man’s Pickelhaube, issued to the elite Prussian Guard regiments of the Imperial German Army during World War I. Constructed from black lacquered leather with the correct grey-painted steel (iron) fittings, introduced in 1915 for wartime economy and reduced reflection in combat. The helmet retains its standardized removable spike, affixed by four domed studs, and the large Prussian Guard eagle front plate, featuring the central Garde Star with the motto “Suum Cuique” (“To each his own”), surrounded by finely detailed wings bearing the inscription “Mit Gott fur Konig und Vaterland” (“With God for King and Fatherland”). Both original side cockades remain - national red-white-black on the right and Prussian black-and-white on the left - mounted behind a leather chinstrap with steel fittings. The interior retains its original brown leather liner. A genuine and well-preserved example of a frontline wartime issue helmet, representing one of the most prestigious formations of Imperial Germany. Condition: Good overall. Height (including spike): approx. 22 cm.
