Rare Model 1889 Prussian Cuirassier Helmet (Kurassierhelm), German Empire, circa 1890–1914. An outstanding example of the Model 1889 steel helmet worn by of the Prussian Cuirassier Regiments, the elite heavy cavalry of the Imperial German Army. The helmet features the classic steel skull with tall, fixed steel spike mounted on a vented brass base. The front and rear visors are trimmed in brass, and the front bears the large gilt-brass Prussian eagle wappen, inscribed “Mit Gott fur Konig und Vaterland” (“With God for King and Fatherland”), centered with the crowned cipher “FR” (Friedrich Rex). A finely preserved brass scaled chinstrap is attached with round brass rosettes, each retaining its original national cockades - black-white for Prussia on the right and black-white-red for the Empire on the left. The interior leather liner. Condition: Very good, with an even age patina, minor surface oxidation, and light wear consistent with age.Height: approx. 28 cm (to spike).
