Description

Prussian 2nd Guard Uhlan for enlisted men Tschapka, Model 1899. An outstanding and original Imperial German Prussian 2nd Guard Uhlan Regiment Tschapka (Model 1899) - the elite lancer’s headgear of the Kaiser’s Imperial Guard cavalry. The helmet body is crafted of high-quality blackened leather, surmounted by the distinctive square-shaped mortarboard top (Tschapka plate) - a hallmark of the Uhlan lancer regiments. Mounted to the front is a beautifully detailed Guard eagle plate, featuring the star of the Order of the Black Eagle at its center, with the motto “Suum Cuique” (“To Each His Own”). The helmet retains its full complement fittings and black-and-white Prussian cockade, as well as its ivory-colored parade cords (feldbinde) wrapped elegantly around the base. The 2nd Guard Uhlan Regiment (2. Garde-Ulanen-Regiment) was among the most prestigious cavalry units of the German Imperial Army, stationed in Berlin and serving directly under the Kaiser’s command. Their iconic Tschapka helmets, inspired by Polish lancers, symbolized both the tradition and elegance of pre-WWI cavalry regalia. Condition: Excellent for age. Dimensions: Height approx. 24 cm. including top plate.
