Description

Magnificent Gold-Inlaid, Cane - Walking Stick, Pommel, Toledo, circa 1900. A finely crafted Spanish Walking Stick Pommel, likely intended as the handle or finial of a cane, made in Toledo around 1900. The entire piece is forged from darkened steel, richly decorated with gold koftgari inlay featuring intricate geometric and floral arabesques, together with an Arabic calligraphic inscription band encircling the spherical head. The design displays the elegant Moorish revival style that flourished in late 19th–early 20th century Toledo, combining Islamic ornamental motifs with European craftsmanship. The gold inscriptions and geometric panels are precisely executed, testing to the continuing influence of traditional Andalusian metalwork in Spanish decorative arts of the period. A refined and decorative piece representing the enduring heritage of Toledo’s metal artistry at the turn of the 20th century. Condition: very good, minor age-related patina; the gold inlay remains clear and intact. Dimensions: length 18 cm.
