Large Bronze and Enamel Orthodox Crucifix – Russian Empire, 19th Century. A finely cast and richly enameled large Orthodox cross, originating from the Russian Empire, 19th century. Crafted in cast bronze and accented with deep blue and white enamel, the crucifix depicts the traditional three-bar Orthodox form. At its center is a representation of the Crucified Christ, flanked by symbolic inscriptions and religious iconography, the sun and moon. The reverse of the cross is fully inscribed with protective prayers and devotional inscriptions in Old Church Slavonic script, emphasizing the object's sacred function as both a liturgical and domestic devotional piece. Excellent detail throughout, with fine engraving and well-preserved enamel. This cross exemplifies the devotional art of Russian Orthodoxy, combining theological symbolism with skilled bronze craftsmanship.
