Description

Imperial German Prussian Officer’s Pickelhaube (Spiked Helmet), Circa 1900 - 1914. A superb and original Imperial German Prussian Officer’s Pickelhaube, dating from the early 20th century, worn prior to and during the early years of World War I. This elegant helmet features a high-quality black lacquered leather body with finely gilded brass fittings throughout. The impressive Prussian front plate (Wappen) displays the crowned eagle with spread wings bearing the motto “Mit Gott fur Konig und Vaterland” (“With God for King and Fatherland”), emblematic of the Kingdom of Prussia. The helmet retains its officer-quality gilded spike, baseplate with star retainers, and scaled chinstraps mounted on both officer-style cockades — the national red-white-black and Prussian black-and-white rosettes. The interior is lined with soft tan leather. The inner shell bears hand-written markings, possibly indicating the size and inventory notes. Overall, this is a fine and complete example of an officer’s model Pickelhaube, representing the height of Imperial German military craftsmanship and elegance. Condition: Excellent for age. Dimensions: Approx. 24 cm. in height including spike.
