Description
German WWI Imperial Prussian Model 1915 Pickelhaube Helmet. An original Model 1915 Imperial Prussian enlisted man’s Pickelhaube (spiked helmet) from the First World War. This regulation helmet, introduced in 1915, features the wartime grey-finished metal fittings in place of the earlier brass or gilt versions. The black leather body retains its original form with visible age-related craquelure to the surface. The front displays the large Prussian Eagle wappen with the “FR” cipher for Friedrich Rex and banners reading “Mit Gott fur Konig und Vaterland” (“With God for King and Fatherland”). The spike is of the fixed type with ventilation holes, typical of later-war production. Both national cockades are present Prussian and Imperial and the helmet retains its original black leather chinstrap. The interior shows the well-preserved leather liner with age wear, consistent with period use and storage. Condition: Overall good, showing service wear, patina, and age cracks to leather; fittings with uniform oxidation. Liner complete. Dimensions: Height with spike approx. 23 cm.
