Commemorative Pocket Watch, Kriegsmarine U-Boot Service, 1940, Nazi Germany, Third Reich. A German Kriegsmarine commemorative pocket watch, dated 1940, preserved in its brass presentation case. The watch case is silver-plated, the obverse bearing a submarine in relief overlaid on a swastika, symbolically associated with the German Navy. The reverse is engraved with “1940 / 5314. The dial features Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, and matching emblematic motifs, now with an even patina consistent with period use. The presentation case is of brass with dark blue velvet interior, the lid decorated in high relief with a U-boat motif above a large emblem and a national eagle on the upper lid section. Condition: good. Watch diameter: approximately 4.8 cm. Case diameter: approximately 7.5 cm.
