A rare officer's sword with a Spanish blade and gold scabbard decoration, sword knot, Britain 19th С. Officers sword, hilt with gilt crown finial, shell form quillon with Queen Victoria monogram and laurel leaves. Straight, double-edged blade of hexagonal section, a fuller at the forte, marked "TOMAS AVALUA" probably an imitation of the famous 17th century Spanish bladesmith TOMAS AIALA. On the other side of the blade is the inscription TOLEDO. The blade was probably made in the 18th century. Steel scabbard with unique decor made to order. The surface of the scabbard is covered with an elegant gold inlay in the form of an exquisite plant ornament. Sword knot included. A very rare item for collectors of weapons in excellent condition.
