Description

White Movement Steppe Campaign Cross, Numbered 51, Dated 1918. This exceptionally rare military award is a "Steppe Campaign" cross, a significant artifact of the Russian White Movement established to honor the Don Army's retreat into the Sal steppes in 1918. The piece is designed as a minimalist equilateral cross with a suspension loop and hook, reflecting the pragmatic aesthetic of early 20th-century field awards. Crafted from silver and displaying a profound aged patina, the reverse of the cross bears detailed hand-engraved Cyrillic inscriptions including the serial number "№ 51," the dedication "For the Steppe Campaign", and the commemorative date "1918". Furthermore, the bottom terminals are inscribed with the specific dates of the operation, "12 / II" and "5 / V," marking the duration of the campaign. The cross itself spans approximately 35 mm in width and 28 mm in height, with a total length of approximately 50 mm including the suspension hardware. The item is in good condition.
