Description

Very Rare, Rich Decorated, Turkish Flintlock Pistol with Two Superposed Barrels, 18th Century. The pistol has an octagon-to-round barrel, caliber 13 mm, with the top flats engraved with a signature that imitates the signatures of European gunsmiths, also in the base of the barrel there are stamps that imitate European proof marks. The flintlock plate is decorated with an engraved floral pattern. The solid walnut stock is richly decorated with silver inlay and carving. The pommel of the handle is made of silver-plated copper and decorated with engraving. A very rare, high-quality example of Ottoman gunsmithing, probably made in Istanbul in the last quarter of the 18th century for a high-level customer. Overall good condition with minor loss of silver inlay. Length 45 cm.
