Description
Very rare Dagger with jade handle, Wootz steel blade and decorated with precious stones and gold, Ottoman Empire, 18th century. Curved wootz blade with two fullers on each side. Gold inlay at the base of the blade. The jade handle is decorated with emeralds on both sides. Very high quality and ornate scabbard made of hammered silver. The upper part of the knife is magnificently decorated with filigree and precious stones. This very rare dagger was probably made in Turkey, in Istanbul, during the time of Sultan Abdulhamid I (1774-89). Length 43 cm.
