The General Medical Officer's sword, model 1817, France, 19th century. Gilt bronze mounting, guard decorated with laurel branches. Double keyboard with fixed front part molded in relief with the caduceus on a background of flags and laurel wreaths, plain, pivoting rear keyboard. Horny handle with brass filigree. White faceted blade, length 76 cm, signed "E. BIDAL 3.A. RICHELIEU. PARIS". Metal scabbard. A wonderful collector's item in good condition. Length 97 cm.
