Rare Russian Empire, Official's Small Sword, circa 1830s. A rare and elegant Russian official’s small sword, dating to the reign of Emperor Nicholas I (1825–1855). The gilt-bronze hilt is richly cast and chased with imperial double-headed eagle, laurel wreaths, and classical motifs. The grip is made of mother-of-pearl plaques, finely fluted and set between gilt ferrules. The knuckle bow is embossed, terminating in a lion’s-head pommel biting the guard. The straight, narrow blade is of diamond-shaped blade, retaining its original patina. Good condition. Length: approx. 83 cm.
