Description

Rare Pneumatic, Air Gun, Europe, First Quarter of the 19th Century. A fine example of an early European air rifle from the first quarter of the 19th century. This long and elegant weapon features a cylindrical air reservoir integrated into the butt, a common design for high-powered pneumatic guns of the period. The lock mechanism is positioned externally, with acurved trigger. The gun is preserved in excellent condition considering its age, with the leather-covered butt intact and the barrel showing an even patina consistent with age. The ramrod is still present. Air guns of this type were used primarily for hunting small game and target shooting by European nobility, prized for their silent operation and freedom from gunpowder. A superb addition for collectors of early pneumatic arms or European sporting weapons. Overall length: 154 cm. Caliber: 9.6 mm.
