Rare Ottoman War Hammer with Silver Koftgari Decoration, 18th Century. A finely crafted Ottoman war hammer, dating to the 18th century, with elegant silver koftgari inlay covering the entire surface of the weapon. The hammer features a long cylindrical iron haft densely decorated with scrolling floral and foliate motifs in fine silver overlay. The head bears a sharply pointed beak-shaped on one side and a conical hammerhead on the other, both enriched with intricate inlay. The curved beak, designed for piercing armor, displays particularly refined silver scrollwork, indicative of high craftsmanship typical of Ottoman court or elite military workshops. Weapons of this type were used by cavalry officers of the Ottoman Empire both in battle and as symbols of rank and prestige. The precision of the silver inlay and the harmonious proportions of this example suggest it was likely made for a noble or officer of high standing.
