Description
Rare Imperial Russian Carved Crystal and Silver Vase - Egor Cheryatov for Fedor Antonovich Lorie, Moscow, circa 1890s. An exceptional and monumental cut crystal vase mounted in richly decorated repoussé silver, created by Egor Kuzmich Cheryatov for the renowned Moscow silversmith Fedor Antonovich Lorie (1858–1920). The finely hand-carved crystal displays intricate geometric and floral motifs, with deep-cut starbursts and faceted panels that reflect light brilliantly. The silver mount, of neoclassical inspiration, features two handles shaped as laurel wreaths, garlanded drapery, and medallion shields framed by fluted pilasters and acanthus ornamentation. The circular base with chased leaf and berry banding rests on a solid silver rim. The piece bears Moscow hallmarks: Kokoshnik mark (84) for Russian silver standard, Silversmith’s mark “EЧ” (Egor Cheryatov), Retailer’s mark “Ф. Лорие” (F. Lorie). A masterpiece of Russian decorative art exemplifying the collaboration between two distinguished Moscow craftsmen of the late Imperial period. Condition: Very good. Height: 65 cm.
