Description

Rare Hussar cap, model 1909, Russian Empire. This magnificent Hussar cap is a prime example of late Imperial Russian military regalia. The tall cylindrical busby is covered in fine black karakul fur and crowned with a large silvered and enameled star of the Order of St. Andrew. The blue enamel reads "For Faith and Loyalty". Above it, a bronze banner bears the inscription: “For Telish on October 12, 1877”—a reference to the regiment’s bravery during the Russo-Turkish War. A top the badge is the regimental cockade. The lower edge features a luxurious chin strap made of overlapping silvered metal scales, retaining the original fastening hardware with manufacturer's marks. The interior is lined with black fabric and carries the rare original retailer’s label: "Warehouse and store GV. Economic Society N. Kuznetsov, St. Petersburg. B. Konyush. 11", indicating manufacture or sale through a prominent St. Petersburg outfitter. A fine collectible from the Russian Empire in excellent condition. Height cm.
