Description
Sugar bowl from the personal service of the French king Louis-Philippe, 1830-40. Manufacture de Sevres. A white ground decorated with gold entwined figure ‘LP’ for King Louis-Philippe surmounted by the Royal Crown. Underside with Sevres marks, date mark for 1840. Louis Philippe was invited to become king of the French after the Revolution of 1830. He proved a worthy patron of the arts. In the 1840s he required porcelain services for his restored palaces and chateaux. Good condition. Height approximately 8 cm.
