Description
French Smallsword of the Officer of the Powder Department, model 1852. Incurved triangular section blade, engraved and gilded on its first third with military trophies and floral decorations, with a blued background. A brass hilt with remnants of gilding. Guard with an image of an eagle with outstretched wings, standing on Jupiter's spindle, from which six lightning bolts burst forth. Pommel with an image of a bee. The connecting bow is abundantly decorated with characteristic curls. The side linings of the handle are made of mother-of-pearl. The leather scabbard with a brass mouth is broken in the middle. The lower part of the scabbard is missing. A wonderful artifact for connoisseurs of French history. Good condition. Length 92 cm.
