Description
Extra Rare Estonian Officer's Dagger, First Republic Period (1918–1940). An exceptionally rare Estonian officer’s dress dagger, dating from the era of the First Republic of Estonia (1918–1940). These daggers were privately commissioned and carried by senior officers as symbols of national service and status. The dagger features a straight, double-edged blade housed in its original leather-covered brass scabbard with two suspension rings. The hilt is mounted in gilt brass with a finely polished bone grip, and the crossguard bears enamelled national shields—one side with the Estonian tricolor (blue, black, and white), the other with the coat of arms of Estonia, depicting three lions passant guardant. Elegant in proportion and refined in execution, this dagger reflects both the Art Deco influences of the interwar period and the patriotic spirit of the newly independent Estonian state. Such examples are exceedingly scarce, especially in complete and well-preserved condition. A highly desirable collector’s piece representing one of the rarest military daggers of the Baltic region. Good condition. Length: approx. 44 cm.
