Engraving, Napoleon's return from the island of Elba with cheering soldiers, 1815, 19th century. Engraving by George Sanders (1774-1846) after a painting by Charles Baron Von Steuben. The artwork shows a dramatic scene in which Napoleon is greeted by a cheering crowd. Napoleon stands in the centre, surrounded by soldiers and flags, indicating his military and political importance.
