Description

Magnificent, Large, Engraving, Battle of Granicus from a set of The Story of Alexander, by Pierre Picault (1680-1711) and Nicolas Henri Tardieu (1674-1749) after Charles Le Brun (1619-1690). Engraving after Charles Le Brun (1619-1690). The Greeks crossed the Granicus, which had blocked their entry to Asia, despite the tree trunks piled up on the riverbanks. The painting combines elements of Michelangelo's Battle of Cascina (now extinct; known from the engraving), as well as frescoes by Raphael. A wonderful engraving for collectors and interior decoration. Overall size 47x81 cm.
