Description
Damascus Steel Blade for an SA Dagger, WeDi Solingen – Echt Damast, Germany, circa 1946. A finely forged Damascus steel blade, produced in Solingen shortly after World War II. The surface exhibits the characteristic wavy pattern of true Echt Damast steel, achieved through traditional folding and forging techniques. The blade is etched and gilded on one side with the inscription “Alles für Deutschland” flanked by oak leaf motifs, and marked “WeDi Solingen – Echt Damast” at the ricasso, denoting manufacture in the famed German blade-making city of Solingen. Measuring approximately 33 cm in length, this blade was likely produced as a post-war replacement or commemorative piece, crafted with the same meticulous attention to steel quality that made Solingen renowned worldwide. A rare example of craftsmanship continuing in Germany’s traditional knife industry in the immediate postwar years. Good condition.
