A Caucasian Dagger "KAMA" with scabbard, Silver and Niello, Russian Empire, Probably Dagestan, c 1900. This prestigious Caucasian kama, likely originating from the renowned workshops of Dagestan circa 1900, represents a masterful synthesis of martial function and ornamental silversmithing characteristic of the Russian Imperial era. The dagger features a robust, double-edged steel blade with a deep central fullers and a tapering point. The hilt is expertly carved from dark natural horn and secured by silver rivets with raised floral bosses set. The scabbard is fully encased in silver and showcases a sophisticated dual-sided decorative program; the obverse is densely worked with intricate niello scrolling foliate motifs and geometric borders, while the reverse is notably adorned with a finely etched representation of a charging bull surrounded by delicate floral sprays. Measuring approximately 52 cm in total length, this piece remains an exceptional artifact of the high-status military and cultural heritage of the Caucasus region and Russian Empire.
