Cased Double-Barrel Superposed Percussion Traveling Pistol with Accessories, Probably French, 19th Century. A fine and elegant superposed double-barrel percussion traveling pistol, housed in its original fitted wooden case lined with rich purple velvet, together with period accessories. The pistol features two stacked barrels (superposed), decorated with engraving imitating patterned Damascus steel. The steel frame and lockplates are richly decorated with delicate floral scroll engraving, complemented by a well-figured walnut grip with smooth, curved contour. The pistol is fitted with dual hammers and a shared trigger mechanism, allowing sequential firing from the upper and lower barrels. A highly collectible and visually refined example of a continental percussion traveling pistol set - combining mechanical ingenuity with the elegance of 19th-century French gunsmith art.
