Description

An Ottoman Silver-Mounted Yataghan with Horn Grip, 18th/19th Century. This imposing Ottoman yataghan, dating to the late 18th or early 19th century, serves as a example of the signature sidearm favored throughout the Ottoman Empire. The characteristic forward-curved steel blade features a single edge and is embellished at the forte with intricate silver overlays displaying traditional scrolling foliate motifs. A notable detail is the small, struck circular hallmark on the blade, providing a characteristic mark often seen in the cataloging of historical imperial weaponry. The hilt is composed of a traditional eared grip fashioned from dark, polished horn. Measuring 75 cm in total length, this large-scale specimen illustrates the sophisticated metalwork and martial utility of 19th-century Ottoman artifacts. The item is in good condition.
