Description

An Indo-Persian Steel Saber with Embossed Leather Scabbard, 19th - 20th Century. This Indo-Persian saber, dating from the 19th to the early 20th century, is an elegant example of regional edged weaponry, featuring a gracefully curved single-edged steel blade, with two fullers on each side. The hilt is mounted with a cruciform brass crossguard with bulbous quillons, transitioning into a dark, polished grip that terminates in a classic hooked pommel capped with a metal fitting. The weapon is housed in its original wooden scabbard, which is expertly covered in dark leather and embellished with extensive embossed geometric patterns along its length. Measuring approximately 96 centimeters in total length, this piece exhibits the blend of functional craftsmanship and decorative tradition common to the Persianate world. The item is in good condition.
