Description

An Indian Gold Koftgari Khanda Sword with Damascus Steel Blade, 19th Century. This 19th-century Indian Khanda sword represents the pinnacle of Sikh and Rajput martial craftsmanship, featuring a broad, straight steel blade meticulously forged with a high-contrast "watered" texture. The blade is characteristic of the form, terminating in a rounded spatulate tip. The traditional basket hilt is entirely embellished with intricate gold damascenes, displaying a dense array of floral and foliate scrolls across the crossguard, knuckle bow, and circular pommel disc. A long, tapering pommel spike, also decorated in gold, extends from the hilt to allow for a two-handed grip, while the interior of the guard retains its rich red velvet lining for comfort and protection. Complete with a dark textile tassel and measuring approximately 101 centimeters in length, this weapon serves as both a formidable combat instrument and a prestigious object of status. The item is in good condition.
