A Swedish Model 1896 Bayonet for the Mauser M96/M38 Rifle, Erik Anton Berg in Eskilstuna, 20th С. This fine example of a Swedish Model 1896 bayonet, manufactured at the renowned Eskilstuna Iron and Steel works Erik Anton Berg. Intended for use with the Mauser M96 and M38 rifles, this piece saw service through the pivotal years of the World War I era, characterized by its distinctive all-steel construction. The hilt features a knurled cylindrical steel grip designed for superior purchase, while the straight, single-edged blade is equipped with a deep fuller to ensure a balance of strength and agility. The ricasso bears the official crown inspection marks and the "E.A.B. Erik Anton Berg" manufacturer's stamp, accompanied by the serial number 738. The bayonet is accompanied by its original steel scabbard and a robust leather frog, showcasing the utilitarian craftsmanship of the turn-of-the-century Swedish military. Measuring a total length of approximately 36 cm, the weapon remains an essential artifact for collectors of Great War militaria and Scandinavian arms. The item is in good condition.
