Description
A Spanish Dagger, Albacete, 19th century. A perfect example with 15 cm. elongated leaf shaped blade, iron cross guard and barrel form bone grip flanked by conical brass mounts with geometric engraved decoration. The scabbard is covered with fabric and has a brass mouth. The lower part of the scabbard is missing. A similar dagger appears on the cover of the book Armas Blancas En Espana by Rafael Ocete Rubio. Highly regarded and used throughout Spain, these are particularly associated with the Basque Resistance during Spain's alliance with Napoleon, 1803-08. A fine, collectible example of a Spanish dagger from the 19th century. Good condition. Length 25 cm.
