Description
A Rare WWII German Third Reich Reichsluftschutzbund RLB Subordinate's Dagger, Model 1938 by C. Gustav Spitzer. This significant example of a Model 1938 Reichsluftschutzbund (RLB) subordinate's dagger represents the formal Dagger by members of the German State Air Protection Service during the late 1930s. The hilt is expertly constructed with a nickel-plated crossguard in the form of a stylized eagle with horizontally ribbed wings, centered by a circular medallion featuring a cutout swastika. The grip is composed of wood, featuring an inset second-pattern RLB organizational emblem—a radiant sunburst centered with a black enameled swastika—and is topped by a stepped, oval pommel cap. The straight, double-edged steel blade is distinguished by the clear trademark of the renowned firm C. Gustav Spitzer of Solingen, featuring their signature circular logo enclosing a standing lion. The dagger is housed in its original steel scabbard, finished in a high-gloss black enamel and fitted with a nickel-plated locket and chape secured by side screws. Attached to the single suspension lug is a black leather hanger with a functional nickel-plated spring clip, which bears the "DRGM" patent mark on the reverse. Measuring approximately 37 cm in total length when scabbard. The item is in good condition.
