Description
A Rare WWII German Third Reich NSFK Model 1937 Flyer's Dagger by Gebrüder Heller. This Model 1937 flyer's dagger, known as the Fliegerdolch, was issued to the Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps (NSFK) and serves as a significant example of German aviation-related edged weaponry from the pre-war era. The hilt is characterized by its distinctive down-turned, multi-ribbed crossguard featuring a central square medallion with a black enameled swastika, paired with a circular disc-shaped pommel. The grip is composed of a wooden core meticulously wrapped in dark blue-black grain leather, a finish that is mirrored on the body of the matching steel-based scabbard. The straight, double-edged steel blade is prominently acid-etched with the "balloon man" trademark and maker's mark of Gebrüder Heller of Marienthal, Schweina, Thuringia. Notable organizational details include a stamped NSFK property mark on the scabbard throat. The dagger retains its original leather suspension hanger with a nickel-plated spring clip bearing the "DRGM" patent mark on the reverse. Measuring approximately 34.5 cm in total length when sheathed, this piece exemplifies the specialized paramilitary regalia produced in the Thuringian blade-making district. The item is in good condition.
