This impressive, last quarter 19th-century English hunting dagger is a superb example of the high-quality hunting dagger produced for the Victorian elite. The substantial double-edged steel blade features a prominent central ridge and is clearly etched with the prestigious retailer’s mark of John Pound & Co., located at 81, 82, & 83 Leadenhall Street, London, a firm also renowned for luxury leather goods and campaign equipment. The hilt is characterized by a textured, diamond-checkered ebony grip. A robust oval metal crossguard provides a functional transition between the grip and the formidable blade. The weapon is accompanied by its original heavy-duty brown leather scabbard, which retains its integrated belt frog and security strap, reflecting the practical yet elegant design typical of British craftsmanship from this era. Measuring approximately 40 cm in total length, this piece represents a significant artifact of British colonial and sporting history. The item is in good condition.
