Description

A Rare Russian Imperial Model 1854 Rifled Dragoon Percussion Rifle, Tula Arms Factory, Dated 1854. This Russian Imperial Model 1854 smoothbore percussion dragoon rifle represents a refined iteration of the Model 1845 infantry pattern, specifically modified with a shortened and lightened profile to accommodate the tactical requirements of mounted dragoon regiments and facilitate efficient loading while on horseback and a rifled barrel. The weapon is constructed with a well-contoured walnut stock, a polished steel barrel, and distinctive brass furniture including the trigger guard, barrel bands, and buttplate tang. The lock plate is prominently struck with the Cyrillic manufacturer's mark "T.O.Z." denoting the Tula Arms Factory above the production date "1854," accompanied by various inspector proof marks. The barrel breech is similarly dated "1854" and carries the serial number "60971," while the upper steel tang displays additional official markings. A significant heraldic feature is found on the brass buttplate tang, which is deeply embossed with the Imperial Russian double-headed eagle centered by the cypher of Tsar Nicholas I. The rifle measures approximately 127 cm in total length and retains its characteristic brass fittings and steel ramrod. The item is in Excellent condition.
