Description

A Rare Multi-Blade Exhibition Pocket Knife for the Paris Market, Late 19th Century. This exceptional late 19th-century multi-blade exhibition pocket knife is a masterwork of luxury cutlery, intricately crafted by Knifbolaget in Eskilstuna for the French market, likely showcased at a Parisian international exposition. The handle scales feature beautifully adorned with a dense relief pattern of "gold" and "silver" roses against a darkened ground. One side highlights a striking cream-yellow enameled cartouche bearing the hand-painted coat of arms of the City of Paris, detailed with its symbolic sailing vessel beneath a heraldic chief and an accompanying medal decoration, bordered by a gilded scroll reading "FABRIQUE EN SUÈDE." This highly sophisticated mechanical piece houses an extensive array of folding steel implements, including two polished blades, scissors, a saw, a corkscrew, a file, an awl, and a packing hook. The primary blade is stamped with the model designation "115 1/2," while the inner ricasso bears the clear maker's stamp "KNIFBOLAGET ESKILSTUNA" alongside the vertical inscription "KINDA" and the maker initials "KB." When closed, this intricate masterpiece of pocket cutlery measures approximately 10 cm in length. The item is in good condition.
