Description

A Rare Military Dagger, Model 1951 — People’s Republic of Bulgaria. A rare Bulgarian Military Dagger, Model 1951, complete with its original scabbard and suspension chain. This dagger was the official ceremonial sidearm of officers of the Bulgarian People’s Army during the early Cold War period. The dagger features a straight, double-edged, polished steel blade. The crossguard and pommel are brass, the latter bearing a five-pointed star. The grip is composed of ivory-colored plastic panels inlaid with a decorative braid running along the centerline, typical of the 1951 pattern. The scabbard is metal, decorated with relief motifs including the Bulgarian lion on the upper fitting, and retains the original chain hanger with brass links and belt clip. This model was introduced in 1951 and remained in ceremonial use throughout the 1950s–1980s by officers of all service branches (Army, Navy, and Air Force) of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria. Today, these daggers are sought-after examples of early Eastern Bloc military design, combining Soviet stylistic influence with distinctive national elements. Хорошее состояние.
