Description

A Rare Dutch Walloon sword of Duc Adolphe-Guillaume de Saxe-Eisenach offered by Rulha town in Thuringe, in excellent condition, second half of the 17th century. This sword can be dated between 1662 ( year when Adolphe-Guillaume has title of DUC de Saxe-Eisenach) and 1668 (yeas of his died). There is abbreviature on the blade HZM - HERZOGLICHE MAJESTAT. Straight steel blade with short one fuller on each side. Engraving on the blade on both sides, hand with curved saber (probably a Spanish or German swordsmith's mark), Latin inscriptions "Vincere aut Mori, Verbum Dominus, Romanus Broinis, Con Cordia Rex" and the letters "AZM" at the base of the blade . Iron hilt with one, large valve, pierced with round holes, parry quillon curved toward the blade, a thumb-ring. Spherical pommel. Wooden grip with iron wire binding. A superb sample Walloon sword for collecting in excellent condition. Length 109 cm.
