This example of a Dutch Model 1895 infantry bayonet represents the early production variant manufactured by the Oesterreichische Waffenfabriks-Gesellschaft (OEWG) in Steyr, Austria. Characterized by its distinctive forward-curved "quillon" crossguard—a feature phased out in later German and Dutch production after 1900—this weapon was designed for the 6.5mm Mannlicher rifle. The bayonet features a robust T-section steel blade, single-edged with a double-edged spear point, specifically engineered for structural rigidity. The hilt is composed of a steel pommel with a T-shaped attachment groove and a spring-loaded locking catch, flanked by two carved wooden grip scales secured by steel rivets.
