Description

A Rare Dagger of Cossack Kama, Kuban Cossack Army, Russian Empire, Ekaterinodar Military Craft School, early 20th century. Produced at the Ekaterinodar Military Craft School during the early 20th century, this rare and historically significant kama was created specifically for the Kuban Cossack Army of the Russian Empire. The sidearm is characterized by a broad, double-edged steel blade featuring deep fullers designed to provide exceptional structural rigidity while maintaining a refined balance. Its grip is constructed from polished dark horn, traditionally secured by rivets with decorative floral-form bosses. The scabbard is encased in leather and fitted with mounts extensively decorated with intricate niello foliate scrolls and geometric borders. Of particular historical importance are the stamped hallmarks visible on the fittings, which denote its official military provenance and craftsmanship at the renowned Ekaterinodar institution. Measuring approximately 49 cm in total length, this dagger stands as a quintessential artifact of the martial heritage and decorative tradition of the Imperial Cossack hosts. The item is in good condition, with minor repairs to the lower portion of the scabbard (see photo).
