Description

Rare dagger, KAMA, Russian Empire, Georgia, silver, engraving and niello. 19th century. This rare 19th-century Kama dagger serves as an example of Georgian craftsmanship from the Russian Imperial era. The hilt and scabbard are adorned with silver mounts featuring intricate niello and engraved scrolling foliate patterns. The double-edged steel blade, has a rhombic cross-section, and is decorated with decoration at the base, made using etching. Notably, the reverse of the scabbard's silver throat mount bears is a precisely rendered Georgian inscription, situating the piece within its specific regional historical context.
