Description
A Rare Belgian Brass-Framed Lefaucheux System Pinfire Revolver, maritime-adapted variant, Circa 1850. This exceptionally rare mid-nineteenth-century pinfire revolver, utilizing the innovative system patented by Casimir Lefaucheux, is distinguished by its uncommon brass construction, featuring a heavy brass frame, cylinder, and a barrel that transitions from octagonal to round. Manufactured circa 1850 in the prestigious arms center of Liège, Belgium, the cylinder is clearly struck with the classic "ELG" star-in-oval proof mark. The brass surfaces have aged to a deep, uniform ochre patina, providing a striking contrast to the darkened steel components and the contoured dark wood grips, which are securely fastened with brass screws. Measuring approximately 30 cm in total length with a 14 cm barrel, this specimen represents a maritime-adapted variant of the standard pinfire sidearms of the period, where the brass frame offered superior resistance to the elements. The item is in good condition.
