Description
A pair of rare percussion Russian Cossack pistols manufactured by "Tanner and Sons", Belgium, Liege, circa 1861. Pistols of this style were used by Cossacks during the Caucasian War (1817-1864) and other 19th century conflicts. Round, tapered barrels, 16 mm caliber. The pistols have marks on the barrel and is otherwise unmarked as is common with these pistols. The barrel has no sights and is fitted to the stock by three steel, barrel bands. The pistols have a percussion locks and the distinctive Cossack style ball triggers. The stocks are made of brown wood. The pommel of pistol grips has a ring for a lanyard loop.
