Description

A Original French WWI Lebel M.1886/93/16 "Rosalie" Cruciform Bayonet with Original Steel Scabbard. This French Model 1886/93/16 infantry bayonet, historically referred to as the "Rosalie," serves as a definitive example of early twentieth-century European military ordnance designed for the Lebel rifle. The weapon is distinguished by its elongated cruciform-section blade, a design engineered to provide exceptional structural rigidity and piercing capability during the trench warfare of the Great War. The hilt is constructed from a cast white metal alloy, typical of the refined 1916 variant, featuring a spring-loaded press-stud and a contoured grip for ergonomic handling. The steel crossguard is prominently stamped with the serial number "80194". The artifact is paired with its original tubular steel scabbard, terminating in a protective ball-finial tip. Utilizing a combination of forged steel and industrial casting techniques, the piece measures approximately 65 cm in total length, representing a significant period of transition in military technology and infantry tactics. The item is in good condition.
