Description
A Mid-20th Century German Hunting Knife by SOLWA Solingen. This impressive mid-century German hunting knife represents the storied blade-making traditions of Solingen, the world-renowned "City of Blades." The substantial steel blade features a dramatic trailing point profile and is equipped with a notched thumb rest on the spine near the hilt for enhanced control during field use. The ricasso bears the distinct stamped mark "SOLWA SOLINGEN," identifying its origin from one of the region's established manufacturers during the post-war era. The hilt is masterfully constructed with a naturally textured stag horn grip, expertly shaped and polished for a comfortable hold. It is accented by a series of decorative leather, brass, and colored composite spacers that provide a vibrant aesthetic contrast between the horn, the slim brass crossguard, and the heavy aluminum or white metal pommel. Accompanying the knife is its original heavy-duty brown leather scabbard, which features a handsome embossed central medallion depicting a bugling stag against a coniferous forest backdrop. The scabbard is reinforced with a metal tip and retains its integrated belt loop and security snap. Measuring approximately 36 cm in total length, this piece is an excellent example of the rugged yet refined hunting equipment produced in Germany for the international market. The item is in good condition.
