Description
A Imperial German M1889 Cavalry Officer's Sword, Totenkopf, Brunswick Hussar Regiment No. 17. This prestigious exemplar of the Imperial German Model 1889 Cavalry Officer’s sword was commissioned for the famed Brunswick Hussar Regiment No. 17, an elite unit renowned for its distinctive "Totenkopf" Death's Head tradition. The hilt features a nickel-plated steel guard intricately pierced with the Prussian eagle, paired with a contoured black ribbed grip. The straight steel blade is a masterwork of acid-etched decoration, prominently displaying the regimental designation "Braunschw. Husaren-Regt. Nr. 17" in gothic script within a decorative panel. Further ornamentation includes a meticulously rendered cavalry charge and the emblematic Totenkopf (Death's Head) surmounting crossed bones, symbolic of the regiment's historical lineage. The blade also bears the "GES. GESCH." mark, indicating legal design protection. Accompanied by its original nickel-plated steel scabbard with dual suspension rings, the ensemble measures approximately 94 cm in total length. The item is in good condition.
