A Fine Cased Pair of French Percussion Pistols by A. Camus, Paris, Mid-19th Century. This elegant pair of mid-19th-century percussion target pistols represents the magnificent example of Parisian gunmaking, bearing the prestigious signature of the maker "A. CAMUS à PARIS" along the top of each barrel. The pistols are equipped with heavy octagonal rifled steel barrels, both struck with the Liège "ELG" proof mark and matching serial number 3460. Meticulous decorative engraving in a foliate scroll motif adorns the lock plates, hammers, breeches, and spurred trigger guards, executed with the precision characteristic of high-end French arms. The half-stocks are fashioned from select, dark-grained walnut, featuring crisp checkering at the grips and terminating in polished steel pommel caps with ornamental finials. Each pistol retains its original steel ramrod with a flared safety tip. The set is presented in its original fitted wooden case, measuring 46 cm in width, which has been professionally refurbished with a rich claret velvet lining. The ensemble is completed by a suite of period accessories, including a fluted wooden powder flask, a steel ball mold, and various maintenance tools. Each pistol measures 35 cm in total length. The item is in Excellent condition.
