Description
A Extra Rare 16th-17th Century Italian Heraldic Shield of the Ubertini Family. The family of the famous Italian artist Francesco d'Ubertino Verdi, called Bachiacca, a famous painter. A rare and historically significant Italian heraldic shield, dating to the sixteenth or seventeenth century, this almond-shaped heater shield is meticulously painted with the noble coat of arms of the Ubertini family of Tuscany. The central charge features a bold red lion rampant set against a richly textured gold-painted field, a classic heraldic composition emblematic of this prominent Tuscan house that held vast territorial influence across the Casentino region, Florence, Arezzo, Siena, and Pisa. Surmounting the heraldic lion is an arched cartouche containing a motto in stylized script, while the perimeter of the shield is punctuated by a series of decorative brass rivets that secure the reinforced rim. The reverse shows a natural aged iron surface with remnants of mounting hardware. Measuring 63 cm in height and 44 cm in width, this shield represents a rare survival of Tuscan feudal identity and seventeenth-century Italian craftsmanship. The item is in good condition.
